Once, Tim Thomas (Will Smith) was a gifted aerospace engineer with a beautiful wife and a lovely beach house. Then, while using his cell phone while driving, his car wandered across lanes and he became responsible for the deaths of 7 others, including his beloved wife. Unable to forgive himself or raise the dead, Tim sets out to give “pounds of flesh” that will give new life to seven deserving individuals to make up for the seven lives he destroyed. Just as Antonio would have to die to pay Shylock the “pound of flesh” he demands, Tim intends to kill himself to atone for his sins. His brother Ben (Michael Ealy), who works for the IRS, is deeply concerned about his state of mind. Tim steals his brother’s IRS ID to access the IRS database and to find and meet people who he believes worthy of his gifts which includes body organs and material possessions. Holly Apelgren (Judyann Elder), Ezra Turner (Woody Harrelson), Connie Tepos (Elpidia Carrillo) and Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson) are among those whom he identifies to help. Furthermore, Tim assumes his brother’s identity of “Ben Thomas” to personally investigate these people and verify that they are indeed the right people he should help. He has a plan for when he identifies his 7 beneficiaries that requires his best friend Dan (Barry Pepper) to see that his wishes are carried out after he is dead. Tim’s plan threatens to unravel when he begins to fall in love with one of the people he is trying to help.

Naomi, the brilliant and pious daughter of an ultra orthodox rabbi finds herself at a crossroads of life choices when her mother dies and she is expected to immediately marry her father’s prodigy. Eventually this journey into the forbidden leads to a growing attraction between the two girls and more crossroads are faced. The Secrets presents the complexities of a religious lifestyle in a vibrant environment of youth, rebellion and desire.

Set in 1955, the plot focuses on the hopes and aspirations of Frank and April Wheeler, self-assured Connecticut suburbanites who see themselves as very different from their neighbors in the Revolutionary Hill Estates. April is an aspiring actress who yearns to move to Paris, while Frank copes with toiling away at a corporate job he despises by drinking too heavily and engaging in an affair with a co-worker. The couple’s marriage slowly dissolves into an endless cycle of bitter arguments and jealous recriminations.

THE READER opens in post-WWII Germany when teenager Michael Berg becomes ill and is helped home by Hanna, a stranger twice his age. Michael recovers from scarlet fever and seeks out Hanna to thank her. The two are quickly drawn into a passionate but secretive affair. Michael discovers that Hanna loves being read to and their physical relationship deepens. THE READER is a haunting story about truth and reconciliation, about how one generation comes to terms with the crimes of another.

The Punisher, Frank Castle, continues his vigilantism against the mob and disfigures crime boss Billy Russoti who takes on the alias Jigsaw and sets out to kill Castle. Castle must simultaneously deal with a taskforce sent in by the United States government to deal with him. |||| Marvel Comics’ vigilante character The Punisher gets another big-screen chance in this third film incarnation of the character, this time from Hooligans director Lexi Alexander and Lionsgate Entertainment. Rome’s Ray Stevenson dons the skull T-shirt in this outing, which sets the antihero in New York against the scarred villain Jigsaw (Dominic West). Wayne Knight heads up the supporting cast as Microchip, the Punisher’s trusted weapons expert, with Doug Hutchison appearing as Looney Bin Jim, a second-tier villain out of the Marvel universe.

Derek Charles (Idris Elba), a successful asset manager who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career and in his marriage to the beautiful Sharon (Beyoncé Knowles). But when Lisa (Ali Larter), a temp worker, starts stalking Derek, all the things he’s worked so hard for are placed in jeopardy.

O’ Horten has been described as a movie without a strong plot or a clear chronology. The main character, Odd Horten, is an overly cautious 67-year-old man, about to retire after forty years as a train driver on Bergensbanen (the route between Oslo and Bergen). As the movie begins, we see him get up in the morning and go through a meticulous daily routine, as he prepares for his penultimate day of work. Later that evening, his colleagues throw him a farewell-party, but Odd – a timid man – is uncomfortable with the attention. After the party he ends up getting locked out of a friend’s apartment. He climbs up a scaffold, and ends up in a young boy’s room. The two stay up talking, Odd falls asleep on the floor and sleeps in the next morning. For the first time in his career, he then arrives too late for work, and the train has to leave without him. He is now left on the platform without any fixed points in his life, with nothing but a life of emptiness stretching out before him.

Notorious is an upcoming biopic about the life of hip hop star The Notorious B.I.G., who is played by fellow Brooklynite Jamal Woolard. It will also feature Angela Bassett as his mother Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as flashy record producer Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Anthony Mackie as rap rival Tupac Shakur. Other roles include Naturi Naughton as Lil’ Kim and Antonique Smith as ex-wife Faith Evans.

The film is currently in post-production and it will hit theaters on January 16, 2009. A teaser trailer was released in late September,.
